What is a cake topper?
The cake topper is the decorative piece that finalizes the decoration of your cake. In the past, cake decorating enthusiasts used to make their own edible toppers to decorate their cupcakes. These edible toppers were used to decorate desserts for birthdays, baby showers, weddings and other celebrations!
These edible toppers were made mainly with sugar paste and placed on cupcakes decorated with vanilla and chocolate buttercream. Using silicone molds designed for cake design, we made decorations on the desired theme.
Then came the non-edible toppers. Homemade toppers are made of paper. Shapes that were printed or cut out withcookie cutters. A toothpick was then glued on so you could prick it onto the cupcake. It's cute but it takes time :-)
