How to use a relief mat?

Once you have cleaned and dried your relief mat, sprinkle it with cornstarch or powdered sugar. This will prevent your sugar paste, marzipan or gumpaste from sticking to the texture mat.

Then roll out your dough evenly on your work surface with a rolling pin.

Place your texture mat face down on your dough and press it down evenly with a sugarpaste smoother to imprint the zebra pattern.

You can then paint the zebra stripes black with black food paint and cut them out with a round cookie cutter to place on your cupcakes for a quick and easy decoration.
